Default The Search for Steven Moeckel Recordings is on !

Of all the boy sopranos trebles that I have heard, one of the most impressive was Steven Mockel (sometimes spelled "Moeckel" in English) who was a soloist with the Vienna Boys Choir in the early 1990s. His voice had an unsual degree of solidness, warmth, and tone. The only recording either on CD or DVD that I have found, however, was where he sang first soprano in a Mozart duet (hear the audio track on my audio/video production.)

So, I am suggesting that the search should be on in an attempt to find further recordings. (Recently, Steven has been concert master and solo violinist with the Tuscon Symphony.)

I also suggest that those persons who enjoy the treble voice selectively choose recordings of better quality trebles and upload them for us to hear.

I'll have to ask him next time I see him. He is a friendly guy and is quite good as a violinist. I did suggest to him to consider singing again and if there was a way to get his earlier pieces. May need to ask him again.

The last positng on this topic was on 8 July, 2009, so I am adding a disappointing update, assuming that readers truly are interested. My inquiry, worded very politely, to Steven Möckel via the email address to the Phoenix Symphony, has had no response from anyone. We must assume that either no one bothered to give him the message, or no one, including Steven, feels that our interest in further recordings of his his singing days is worth bothering with.

So, if anyone who might have an interest has other creative ideas of how to secure recordings, such as going directly WSK in Austria, please try; and let us know the results.

Thank you.
