Default Riccardo Broschi & Porpora: New Information

1. I have added to the Gallery portrait description of Riccardo Broschi (brother to Farinelli) a list of all the known operas composed by him.

2. I also have added the lyrics and a translation for Popora's "Alto Giove" to my video upload.

3. I have been searching for specific aria scores for arias sung by Farinelli. Obviously, something was written down for the film "Farinelli," and the interpretations generally were good, although I have not found a way to acquire them. The only scholarly source that I have found so far is virtually inaccessible:
Haboeck, Franz: Die Gesangskunst der Kastraten; Dresden, 1923.
It also contains information about Farinelli's life.

Default Farinelli's Life

I have a good amount of information about Farinelli's life that I have accumulated from a number of documents. If I can arrange sufficient time to do a good job, I can upload a short biography of him. There is a biography in French by Barbier, one in German from 1923, and some research papers in Italian, which I never have read. I emailed the fairly new Center for the Study of Farinelli (English translation) asking for material; however, all that I received after two months was a Christmas greeting in Italian.

Anything you can provide will be greatly appreciated. You probably don't realize how much this means to me but it does.

Thank you,
chris...

i read the german farinelli Biography, and i really enjoyed it. there is also one of Caffarelli and one of Filipo Balatri, who sang for the mongul
king. And i don't know if there is a translation in english, but there is a book Kastraten, Engel wider willen (Castratos, angels against there will) which is very informative

P.s. i have some Farinelli aria notes because i sang them and so if you want i may send them to you ( something from "Marc'Antonio and Cleopatra" (Hasse) and the three i told you)

Do you have 'Voi che adorate il vanto' from Cleofide? I haven't listened to the whole opera yet but I am very fond of Wong's interpretation of that aria.

It would be great if you could scan it into your computer and send it to me here. There's no rush, send it when you have the time. Lets try not to get too off-topic here though!
