Default Christmas Presents

Did you get anything male soprano or alto related for Christmas? I got Jaroussky's Vivaldi Heroes and Beata Vergine. I like the Vivaldi CD better which is perhaps not surprising as the music on the latter CD is much 'heavier' in my opinion, at least the majority of it. I'm sure I'll learn to appreciate it in a few days though. The Vivaldi arias are on the other hand, all very easy to enjoy.

I also got the Sant'Alessio DVD but I have yet to watch it. I haven't really had the chance due to numerous dinners I've had to go to. I should have time to watch it tomorrow and will then say my opinion of it.

No I didn't getting anything Soprano or Countertenor. My partner doesn't like me singing CT so there would be no encouragement in that area.

I also got the Vivaldi Heroes album, which is really enjoyable I think. But what is going on with the cover photos? I can't look at the CD without wondering whether Jaroussky has just had a lucky escape from a boarding school. But I suppose that counts as some sort of heroic act...

My mother gave me the Glyndebourne Rodelinda DVD, and I forced her to watch it with me. The staging is both gripping and funny, the singing is amazing, and we were both baffled (once again) by Scholl's incredible voice.

mRadaChris, you have to buy yourself some presents then, if your partner is so unsupportive!
