David Korn, Male Soprano
Information
| | Title | David Korn, Male Soprano | | Description | David Korn, male soprano, was born in New York. He studied music at The Manhattan School of music and received his bachelors and masters degrees in opera performance. He made his debut at the Alice Tully Hall in “David” by Melilo. He performed the role of Amore “Giasone” by Cavalli at the Aspen Opera Theater Center. He has sung the role of Miles in Britten’s “The Turn of the Screw.” In 2007, he sang the role of Amore (and also was the understudy for Nerone) in Monteverdi’s 1648 opera “L’incoronazione di Poppea,” which I attended. His subsequent roles include Nireno in Handel’s “Giulio Cesare” and Nerone in the 2009 Baltimore production of “…Poppea.” As a male soprano, David’s voice has a pronounced vibrato, unlike the Baroque style of the castrati. Like Maniaci, it is unclear how much of this vibrato is natural and how much might have been instilled by current-era habits. | | All times are GMT. The time now is 09:20 PM. |
