He is gifted with a pure soprano voice in the range of C4 to C6 considered to be a great talent of Baroque music. He was born in 1977 to a family of artists in what was then the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. His exceptional musical talent started at the age of seven when he sang (in French) the aria “Der Holle Rache” from Mozart’s “Magic Flute. “ Marian studied singing in Moldova(Chisinau) and Romania(Bucharest) and obtained the title of "Concert Master," with great merits. He was granted a scholarship by the Moldovian government and received vocal training in Italy with Flavio Colusso. His repertoire includes arias and cantate written for castrati by Handel, Bononcini, Carissimi. Conductor Colusso states that Radu Marian is a male soprano whose voice is different from countertenors and sopranists. His voice is a natural soprano, not a falsetto's. | |
